Licences to print DABS Leaflets
Back
Leaflets
Following an approach from within the NHS, we can now offer large organisations, such as NHS Trusts or PCTs, licences to print their own copies of DABS Leaflets.

This is particularly timely as, following a successful pilot scheme last year, the Department of Health's Violence & Abuse Policy is now being implemented across the UK.

This means NHS staff need, not only the DoH's basic training on abuse, but also resources to give to patients who answer "yes" to the now
standard question about past abuse experiences.

DABS Leaflets provide an appropriate and cost-effective part of the solution to this new challenge.

Cost
The licences cost £200 per leaflet per year. The licence agreement allows the organisation to make an unlimited number of copies of the leaflet, for use within their organisation. When the 12month licence period expires, it can be renewed at a reduced rate, currently £50 per leaflet per year.

Licence for DABS Childhood Sexual Abuse & Incest Leaflet
"The legacy of childhood sexual abuse can be devastating, and often makes itself felt years after the abuse itself has stopped. If you’re wondering whether something that happened such a long time ago could be the cause of problems you’re experiencing now, you could be right. If someone else has suggested this to you, it can be very hard to accept, but they too could be right...."

Licence for DABS Childhood Abuse (including Physical Violence & Emotional Abuse) Leaflet
"One of the most significant things about any abuse is the effect it had, and still has, on you. What happened is not as important as how it made you feel at the time, how you explained it to yourself, and how it still affects your life. Remember you were a child then, and what might seem relatively minor to you now, as an adult, could have been devastating to a child. The shock of being hit and punched by someone you love, the pain of rejection, or the sad bewilderment of finding you've been tricked and manipulated again, can all have long-term consequences. If you think you might be suffering now as a result of what you went through then, perhaps you need to look into it...."

Licence for DABS Partners of Survivors of Childhood Abuse Leaflet
"You’re probably reading this because something that happened a long time ago is having an impact on your relationship now. Perhaps your partner gave it to you, to help you understand more about what he or she is going through, and hopefully to ease the pain and confusion that both of you may be feeling. Or you may have found it for yourself, possibly even in lonely desperation at the difficulties that keep coming up in your relationship.... The chances are, it’s becoming clearer that both of you are living with the effects of the abuse your partner suffered. And one or both of you wants some help in dealing with it...."

"Counselling is an opportunity to talk about problems you’re experiencing, with someone who listens and cares. Prosecutions:
"Police training and practice has improved dramatically over the last few years. You can now expect to be taken seriously, to be treated sensitively, and with tact and respect…. Sexual crimes are very hard to prove, and the outcome can be a negative result (not guilty). You do need to be prepared for this, and have supportive friends/family available...."
Criminal Compensation Claims:    "Instructing a solicitor can often be a bewildering and stressful process and, more importantly with claims of this nature, can itself lead to a triggering of unpleasant and traumatic memories. Having support from friends, family and medical professionals is essential for any person considering a claim. It is also essential to instruct a solicitor who is experienced and has knowledge of dealing with claims on behalf of survivors of physical and/or sexual abuse...."
