The Freephone 24hr National Domestic Violence Helpline (run in partnership with Women's Aid and Refuge) provides emotional and practical support & information to women & children experiencing domestic violence, and plays a pivotal role in assisting women & children access a place of safety in a women's refuge, as well as outreach and other services. The helpline also offers support and information to friends, family members and external agencies that are calling on behalf of a woman.

The helpline is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by fully-trained female Helpline support workers and volunteers. Helpline staff will discuss the available options for women and children experiencing domestic violence and, if appropriate, refer callers to refuges and other sources of help & information.

The Helpline is a member of Language Line and can provide access to an interpreter for non-English speaking callers. The Helpline can also access the BT Type Talk service.
